Dear Bishop McKinley,

I was wondering if you would post the challenge below from Jeff Jones, Bellshire’s Youth Pastor. We here at Bellshire are passionate about Youth Camp and would love for this year to be the best year ever.

In Christ,

Shannon W. Bowdoin
Senior Pastor
Bellshire Church of God of Prophecy

Hope everything is well with all of you.

At the Bellshire church’s finance committee meeting last week, we felt challenged to invest in the mission effort to reach youth across the state of Tennessee . You may know it better as Camp Hickory Hills. God has richly blessed us with an outlet, a facility, and co-workers to impact the youth in our state. I am using 1Night as means to also invite kids to youth camp this year.

Some of you may not realize a major plan that is taking place in our camps geared towards teenagers this year. Both the Senior Camp (15 to 18 year old) and Teen Camp (12 – 14 year old) have invited a gentleman from the state of Mississippi to bring his equipment and staff his equipment for the week. Lacey (the gentleman from Mississippi ) runs a business that rents inflatibles and provides other fun activities and games. Those of us that were at IYC last year got to experience first hand. It is an incredible time. You need to see the video if you haven’t seen it already. I will just say on my part, I have lost weight since then and should be able to fit in tubes better this year. J

If you have ever rented this style of equipment, you know that just for a block of time, it is quite expensive. Lacey is doing this for a minimum of $1,800 for the entire week of camp. That is nearly what I paid for four hours here at WHS for our homecoming this last year for two pieces of equipment.

The problem is that our directors do not have that kind of money. Bellshire is not exactly a church thriving financially even though God has blessed us to meet all our bills. However, we felt like we would donate $500 per camp (Teen and Senior). We are challenging you to meet that amount. Not everyone will be able to do it, BUT any amount will help.

I wish I could film one of those commercials and tell you that for just the price of a cup of coffee, you to can help to have a child thrown from a mechanical bull.

Please give. You have been generous in your help towards 1Night. You have been faithful in loving those kids. Now is an opportunity once again. Please, go to your senior pastors and beg and plead and do whatever it takes to help out.

You can make out the checks to Camp Hickory Hills and make sure it is noted in “For” section what camp it is going to and put recreation beside the camp name. I will be glad to give you the mailing address for Victor and Renee (Senior Camp) and Paul and Carol Shull (Teen Camp) if you need it.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
