I am taking the liberty of posting a letter I received from our General Overseer below. I would like to say that this is a WISE choice on behalf of Bishop Howard.
February 02, 2007
Greetings to the Presbyters of North America, and International Offices:
I trust the grace of the Lord is carrying you ahead in ministry leadership in each of your areas. God is certainly at work in this world in dramatic ways and we want to be filled with His grace to accomplish all that He lays before us. May God give us a double portion for this season of labor.
The International Bulletin of Missionary Research just came across my desk and I was blessed to see an article mentioned in this January 2007 edition, Spreading Fires: the Globalization of Pentecostalism in the Twentieth Century. A friend also passed along to me a copy of the New York Times article from the week of January 16th, 2007. The New York Times published a three-part series called “House of Fire,” about the rise of Pentecostalism — the world’s fastest-growing branch of Christianity.
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit all over the world is not old news, but still current news that is attracting the attention of both the secular and Christian publishing world. What a day to be ministering as a Spirit filled Pentecostal leader. We are blessed to be a part of this movement, as the Times says, “the world’s fastest-growing branch of Christianity.” There has been no better day to declare Jesus Christ is Lord in the power of the Spirit. May we all be renewed in this “Spreading Fire” for the harvest work ahead.
I write to you today with an announcement of the appointment of the Finance, Administration, and Publications Director for the Church of God of Prophecy. After several months of prayer and counsel with the General Presbyters I am pleased to announce to you that Bishop Benjamin Feliz will be stepping into this role as of March 1st, 2007. I know that you will pray for him and for his family as they make the transition to Cleveland and the International Offices.
Most of you are aware that Brother Feliz has been our Overseer for the Southeastern Hispanic region for the last six years. During that time the region has grown from six churches to fifty churches. We certainly appreciate the leadership of Brother Feliz in this region where he will be missed.
Many may not realize that previous to this ministry Bishop Feliz pastured and worked full time in banking in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for thirteen years. Both his undergraduate work and his Masters level work was in business and for thirteen years he was involved with accounting in banking. He was named Director of Operations for his bank, where he supervised accounting functions and auditing, among other operations. In his last few years with the bank he was named manager of a finance company that the bank had acquired.
I believe the Lord has prepared and guided Brother Feliz in both business and ministry so that he could lead the Finance work of the Church of God of Prophecy internationally. I am pleased to welcome Bishop Benjamin Feliz to this Ministry Director post. Please feel free to work with him for all your financial needs in ministry leadership. Again I know your prayers will cover him and his family through their transition.
Spirit Driven Toward the Harvest,
R E Howard
